Courtney Marshall, PMHNP-BC

About Me
I am a psychiatric nurse practitioner, integrative clinician, and Yale-trained nurse-midwife dedicated to helping adults feel whole again, not just symptom-free. My approach to mental health combines medical expertise with genuine curiosity about the root causes behind emotional distress. Many of my patients come to me after feeling unseen or over-medicated elsewhere. They stay because I listen, look at the full picture, and partner with them to create lasting change.
Education & Early Professional Experience
I began my career as a certified nurse-midwife after earning my Master of Science in Nursing from Yale University, following my Bachelor of Science in Anthropology from Bates College in Maine. After 5 years in women’s health, I completed a post-master’s in psychiatric nursing at the University of Maryland, where I also served on the faculty with the OB/GYN department. My early work with the teen pregnancy and HIV clinics taught me that care is most effective when it treats the entire person in body, mind, lifestyle, and environment, not just the diagnosis.

Clinical Practice & Integrative Approach
After several years working in a traditional psychiatry setting, I founded Therapeutic Health in 2015 to create the kind of practice I wished existed: one where patients have time to be heard and care plans are tailored to their unique needs.
I integrate lab testing, nutrition, supplements, and lifestyle strategies with medication management, helping people find balance through both conventional and natural methods.
My additional training includes the Integrative Psychiatric Institute’s Fellowship program and both their Personalized Medicine Program, and Nutritional Psychiatry Program.
Specialties, Values & Personal Interests

Specialties
I treat a wide range of conditions including anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, and insomnia, with particular expertise in women’s mental health, from pregnancy and postpartum to perimenopause. My work is guided by compassion, curiosity, and a commitment to helping each person feel grounded and capable in their own life.

Values & Approach
I’m also a lifelong learner and a creative problem solver. I love finding practical, evidence-based ways to help clients live healthier, happier, and more fulfilling lives, whether that means rebalancing sleep and nutrition, exploring supplements, or simplifying medication plans so life feels easier to manage.

Personal Interests
Outside the office, I love cooking, gardening, Pure Barre, and reading. I also enjoy spending time outdoors and traveling with my husband, our two daughters, and our dog.
